I’m a book, media, and tech marketer/publicist that has worked for both indie publishers and major publishing houses in NYC, including Simon & Schuster and Penguin Random House. I currently work full time at JSTOR (ITHAKA), a not-for-profit research library and database, and sometimes undertake freelance marketing work in my spare time. (To learn more about the marketing/publicity work I’ve done, go to www.grossmanmarketingpublicity.com).

I’m also a (published) writer. The Anxiety of Authorship is a way for me to keep track of myself as an anxious reader-writer, sharing the raw, uncertain, but gratifying experience of being a writer with others. I originally grabbed the name from a famous literary theory written in the 1970s by feminists Sandra M. Gilbert and Susan Gubar, and it stuck.

Though my perfectionist side wishes otherwise, the publishing information and book reviews/thoughts on this blog are not always timely and my reflections on writing are not always resolute. My favorite genres are slipstream (by writers like Karen Russell), realistic fiction, fantasy, science fiction, horror, and nonfiction (personal essays and journalism). However, I try to expose myself to many genres of writing. If you have any favorite reads to suggest or want to talk about anything reading/writing-related, definitely reach out or comment on my posts. The connection between literary people of all sorts is a special, enchanting thing because we tend to inspire each other by default. So let’s continue such a kinship, no matter where we are or end up on this globe. Literary camaraderie is beautiful.

*Random likes: reading, film, writing (yay rejection), podcasts, traveling, thunderstorms, flavored Decaf Coffee, photography, loose tea, dogs, cats, video games (especially…The Sims), healthy living, restaurant-going, literary criticism/reviews, good conversation, and expanding my mind.

Steph, I am so proud of you for hosting a blog. I cannot wait to explore this. May you always write with freedom, passion. May you always follow your heart, wherever life may take you. Wherever you end up with your (somehows), may you choose to never abandon your gift and heart for writing. I look forward to us being able to inspire one another. Both in demolishing our anxieties, and expanding are bookworm brains 🙂 ❤ Love you girl 🙂
